38 people injured

 

In the capital of France, Paris, as a result of clashes between activists and police officers, 38 people were injured at May Day demonstrations, including 14 policemen.According to Reuters, law enforcement officers used tear gas and water cannons to disperse groups of masked protesters who mingled with union members.

To protect the order in the capital of France, 7400 police officers were involved, who made 380 arrests.

The left CGT has condemned police violence, while law enforcement officers themselves deny excessive violence.

French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner reported on Twitter that the Vandals had attacked the old Paris hospital Pite-Salpêtrière, injuring its employees, as well as a policeman who had come to the rescue.

At May Day demonstrations, union members demanded an increase in the purchasing power of the population. At the same time, the reforms proposed by President Emmanuel Macron last week were criticized in response to the “yellow vests” protests, including a significant reduction in the value added tax.

According to activists, these measures will not help to improve the social situation of the poor.
