In the Romanian city of Sibiu, participants in the informal summit of the heads of state and government of the European Union on Thursday, May 9, adopted a declaration listing 10 key provisions, which all 27 EU countries are committed to.
Politicians reported that the document was made public on the eve of the anniversary elections to the European Parliament, which were held for the first time 40 years ago.
Among the commitments made by the EU countries are the protection of a united Europe, as well as the readiness to play the role of a "responsible world leader" and uphold democracy and the rule of law.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that they should be innovative, strong and united.

"For this we will speak today," – said Merkel.
At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Europe needs to increase the amount of investment in the digital sphere and artificial intelligence so that they can compete in these areas with the United States and China.
