The study analyzed the data obtained by observing the lifestyle of 12 thousand Americans in the period from 1987 to 2016. Scientists were especially interested in eating habits. People who became the object of scientific interest were not given any recommendations for improving the diet: for example, participants ate as much as they wanted meat, eggs, dairy products, fish, seafood.

As a result, the authors of the project concluded that without giving up meat and other animal products, but at the same time increasing the consumption of vegetables, fruits, nuts, and legumes, it is possible to reduce the risk of serious diseases.
“Provided that you eat much more plant foods than animal products, the risk of premature death from any health problems can be reduced to 25%,” CNN researchers quoted as saying.
