One of the most common symptoms of multiple sclerosis is extreme fatigue. In their study, British scientists found that cocoa consumption effectively helps to combat fatigue in patients with this disease.
40 people took part in their project, who were diagnosed with multiple sclerosis of the remitting form. Scientists divided the participants into two groups: one group drank a cup of cocoa with a high content of flavonoids, while the other group received only a version of this drink.
Participants drank cocoa every day for six weeks. After this, you should wait 30 minutes before taking any prescribed medications, drinking or eating anything else.
Researchers evaluated participants' fatigue levels and fatigue: they analyzed cognitive and physical indicators. In addition, participants themselves rated their fatigue on a scale of 1 to 10 at different times of the day.

The results showed that participants who drank cocoa showed a 45 percent reduction in fatigue and increased stamina. Also, these subjects reported that they began to experience less pain.
“Eating cocoa rich in flavonoids can be a simple, safe, and cost-effective way to improve the lives of people with multiple sclerosis,” said Dr. Shelley Coe, a senior lecturer at the Department of Nutrition and one of the study’s authors.
