Tesla can go into the mining business »GoGetNews News

The head of Tesla, Ilon Musk, is ready to start mining operations to be sure that the company will be able to produce enough batteries.

As Tesla increases the production of vehicles and batteries, it will have to take into account such elements of the battery supply chain as mining, reports Business Insider.

Musk said that the ability of the electric vehicle manufacturer to expand its product line depends on the ability to produce a large number of batteries. To produce batteries, the company needs regular supplies of nickel, copper, lithium and other elements.

“We can enter the mining business. I dont know. It makes no sense to add the complexity of the product if we do not have enough batteries, ”said Ilon Musk.

The entrepreneur told about the possible plans of Tesla, telling about the creation of the electric pickup and the production of an all-electric truck by the end of 2020. According to Mask, the implementation of these goals depends on the company's ability to produce large quantities of lithium-ion batteries.
