Ukrainian drivers have a new fine invented »GoGetNews news

From January 1, 2020, a new penalty will appear in the list of punishments for Ukrainian drivers – for parking at a place designated for charging an electric vehicle.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted “for the basis and in general” Law No. 10405 “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning Creating Access to the Infrastructure of Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles”. The document provides for a fine in the amount of 20 to 30 non-taxable minimums (UAH 340-510) for parking a car with an internal combustion engine at a designated place near the charging station for an electric vehicle.

In addition, according to the new law, from January 1, 2020, electric vehicles will be issued with state license plates with green letters and numbers, and new traffic signs “For electric vehicles”, “Except electric vehicles” and “Electric vehicle charging station” will appear in the SDA.

On the one hand, such innovations do not seem significant, however, if you look at the situation more deeply, it can be stated that electric vehicles launched an active offensive in a long war with cars with ICE. It is quite possible that the introduction of "green" numbers as a method of easy identification in the future will entail a number of preferences for electric vehicles – permission to enter areas where car access from the engine may be restricted, the right to use lanes for public transport or, say, to park there where cars with gasoline and diesel engines will not be allowed to do this.
