"We believe that these sanctions can really help prevent the launch of Nord Stream 2, especially in light of the need to conclude a new contract for the supply of gas to Europe," the diplomat said.
According to her, for Ukraine this is an additional tool in the negotiations.
The other day, Republican Senator Ted Cruz expressed a similar belief that US sanctions could delay the commissioning of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline for more than a year or even stop its construction altogether.

Recall that the US Congress plans to include sanctions against companies involved in the construction of Nord Stream-2 in the defense budget for next year.
